Surrendering to what Andy Kim calls, ââ¦the Magic & the Brilliance of Kevin Drewâ, songs with the impeccable intuition of a Hall of Fame songwriter shimmer with Drewâs studio brilliance.
Andy goes on to say, âAlthough Iâve always held a childlike belief that my day was not yet done I never expected to live the love & passion that Kevin gave me & the creative process that has become my new album.â
As stories begin to run about Andy Kimâs resurgence, The Toronto Sun led the way and said,
âThe ageless 60-something singer-songwriterâs reassuringly mellow delivery and wistful longing remain timeless, but here theyâve been tastefully wrapped in lush synth-pop clouds, inventive arrangements and a softly glowing ambience.â
Another early supporter of the release, Rollingstone.com said, âFor the first time in the Montreal nativeâs roller-coaster career, heâs presenting himself less as an aspiring pop idol and more like your cool indie-rock uncle. The seasoned songwriter who once hustled his way into the Brill Building compound of Jeff Barry â with whom Kim authored the Archieâs classic âSugar, Sugar,â 1969âs biggest hit â has found an unlikely ally in his current comeback bid: Kevin Drew of Toronto art-rockestra Broken Social Scene.â
From an interview with Pitchfork.com, Drew says, âItâs not a sugar-pop record. This is a man who is singing about his mortality, moving on, getting older and the idea of trying to connect to an audience whoâs possibly lost their parents or are dealing with friends going away. Andyâs really hitting something with that.â
Profiled on Popmatters.com: âKim has a musical pedigree that is beyond reproach. One of the fruits of this artistic union, âLongest Timeâ⦠is indicative of Kimâs impressively young-sounding voice and his knack for effervescent melodies.â
Co-written and produced by Broken Social Sceneâs Kevin Drew and produced by Drew, Dave Hamelin (The Stills), and Ohad Benchetrit (Do Make Say Think), Itâs Decided is the crystallization of a creative music community around a living, thriving legend, Andy Kim.
